Sometimes we rock this special needs parenting gig, and sometimes we wallow in the hardness of it all. Where are you at today?

Today We are Rocking it!

Look at us! We have started a blog to connect caregivers to resources to support them on this crazy journey of supporting an adults with special needs. Full transparency, we have been talking about doing this for two fricking years, but as any special needs caregiver knows, life got in the way – there were medical emergencies, high school transitions, blah, blah blah. It never really stops for us does it?

So this year we have declared that we are just going to jump in and start. It won’t be perfect, it won’t always be pretty (kinda sounds like our lives, right???) but it will always be our best effort.

Here is what we are trying to do – we are so tired of having conversation with every caregiver we know that start with “Why is this so hard? Why didn’t I know that ? How do I…?” So rather than continuing to have these conversations in random hallways or on the sidelines of our kids activities or in the privacy of our living rooms, we are going to try and open those conversations up to a wider audience. Let’s build a place where we can share our tribal knowledge, connect with other caregivers struggling with the same issues, provide a safe space to ask the hard questions and build a community of support for caregivers of teens and adults with special needs.

It won’t be perfect, it will be hard and messy, but that is how most of our lives are everyday.
